Take home some gold too!
Hey,
It's been an Olympic week and your favorite characters have been watching clips of the various events because the scribe wouldn’t pay for a streaming service so we could watch it in real time. Congratulations to all the athletes for qualifying for the Olympics! Whether you medalled or not, you’re all amazing.
We didn't get a gold medal, but we have gold foil on our books, so that counts as gold, right? And you can get some bling for your bookcase by ordering a copy of the illustrated edition of the Rogue Gods Trilogy. We're coming to the end of the late pledges, so if you want a copy, please order it now. Late pledges end when we approve the final proofs and order copies for everyone who backed the kickstarter.
And do you know what else is amazing? Book news!
This is Ran, Sarn’s son from the Curse Breaker series, and before I get into that, the scribe is feeling much better now after 5 days on antibiotics. So that means she can write more books and I can argue with her now about those books.
When will the next book publish to retailers?
Probably Rogue Gift, Book 5 of the Robin of Larkspur series. We hope to have it done and uploaded retailers by Sept. 27. The story is at a tricky part right now. If you’ve read Curse Breaker Hidden, there’s a flashback to that particular scene in it. So you can guess what part Melinda is working on.
After that, we’re not sure what book will publish next. We have to finish fulfilling the kickstarter and reformat the Rogue Gods Trilogy to remove all the pictures. So I’ll just keep you updated on that and let you know when we can set a release date for it.
But I think that book may hit stored for Christmas, and it might go into Kindle Unlimited for a while before releasing wide. That’s something we’re thinking about since all the series Melinda writes started in Kindle Unlimited.
Since the Rogue Gods Trilogy will be the first new series released since 2020, it’s the first time we’ve had to decide this. Why not follow in the footsteps of previous series?
We’ll probably do a poll though to make sure that’s something you want. Right now, we’re impatiently waiting for the last set of proofs. According to the tracking link provided by the printer, they are waiting to cross the Atlantic. Will they go by boat or by plane?
I wish the books could tell me that when they arrive. The tracking is not clear on that point.
Speaking of polls, I’ve got a question for you.
For books based on the stories that were in our newsletter, should my chapters be in first person or should they be changed to third person to match our other published books?
The poll will help the Scribe. She said something yesterday about how our newsletter stories are not consistent with our books because my chapters are in first person. Everyone else’s POV is written in third person, and our books are all in deep third person POV.
So she proposed we change that for new books hence the poll. Your response will tell Melinda if she needs to change things before we start publishing a story in here again.
In other news, some fans have asked for illustrated editions of other series, so Melinda claims she asked my papa and Robin if they're okay with her doing an illustrated edition of the Robin of Larkspur series.
She says they said yes, but I find that hard to believe that since Papa doesn’t know there are books about his life. If she really did ask him, then I would have a lot of explaining to do. Since he hasn’t asked me about our books, I don’t think she really asked him. Yes, I’m starting some drama, but it’s on behalf of my papa, so that’s okay.
Melinda probably just asked Robin since she’s the main character of that series, and that’s okay. I wish she would have just said that instead of putting words in my papa’s mouth.
Anyway, Melinda started thinking about what to do for an illustrated version of the Robin of Larkspur series since she’s writing the 5th and last book of the prequel series, and this is a test spread for it:
This is not final or anything. It’s just an idea and possible design direction. So the final may look considerably different.
All that to say that an illustrated version of the Robin of Larkspur series is coming soon, but I don't know how soon. And that’s exciting because you know what comes next… illustrated versions of the Curse Breaker series! But that probably won’t come until sometime next year.
Fulfilling the Rogue Gods Kickstarter campaign and finishing Rogue Gift and Chasing Dragons are Melinda’s top three priorities in that order. So I don’t know when she’d have time to work on this.
I’ll keep you updated on that and all the book things. Have an awesome week!
