The Scribe's Reading Log
I saw something about how you can't be a great writer unless you read, and I realized that I don't talk about what I read.
And I read a lot of books.
So far this week, I listened to:
Nine Lives Magic Mysteries boxed set (books 1-3) 😔 by Danielle Garrett
Tell Her Story 😲 by Margot Hunt
Zero Tolerance by James Patterson 😬
Crystal World by BV Larson 😁
Righteous Prey by John Sanford 😱
Dark Angel by John Sanford 😁
I didn't enjoy Nine Lives Mysteries but I loved Danielle's other series about Beachwood Manor. I bought and listened to all 12 books of that series last week.
Nine Lives is very cringe most of the time. I almost dnf'd so many times but I didn't like the first book of her Beachwood Manor series either. So I pushed through the boxed set. Unfortunately, the characters became less likeable as it went on unlike the Beachwood Manor books. So I won't be continuing with the Nine Lives Magical Mysteries series. :(
James obviously did no research about the military or how it's justice arm works so the story in Zero Tolerance was just awful and totally wrong. It was really tedious to listen to and not even Hillary Swank could save it, but she tried. Watch her series instead and give this travesty a hard pass even though it's free with audible Plus.
Tell Her Story was fantastic. It's free with audible Plus. Dakota Fanning does an excellent job with this thriller.
I ♥️ the Undying Mercenaries series so I loved Crystal World (book 20), and I hope it never ends.
I love the Lucas Davenport thrillers series so I loved Righteous Prey and the inclusion of Virgil Flowers was so fun. If you know, you know. Righteous Prey is book twenty something in the series.
I loved Dark Angel, which stars Lucas' daughter Lettie. It was just awesome. It's book 2 of her spin off series, and I can't wait to see what she does next.
I'll probably relisten to Crystal World and Dark Angel over the weekend since they were so fun then move onto a new book on Monday.
What did you read this week?
