The Plot Thickens
Hey,
Melinda was sick this week so I was a nice character, and I didn’t beg her for more page time. It took all my willpower to leave her alone, but I can be the bigger character. Well, not physically since I am the smallest and youngest character in the Curse Breaker series. You guessed it, this is Ran, Sarn’s sunny son. Yes, that's alliteration, and no, I'm not sorry about it.
But I am still plotting behind the scenes. I didn’t give up on my plans to take over the writing queue. I just paused them to be nice to my scribe since she couldn’t take any time off from work to recuperate.
But I'm not pausing for long because we have big plans, not just for our books but for this newsletter. I was going to wait to announce this until we had more details nailed down, but if I announce it while Melinda is sick and isn't paying much attention to what I'm doing then she can't retract it. So I get my way and you get more books. We all win.
So what's this big announcement?
If you've been around for a while then you know that we have written a lot of stories in this newsletter and on our blog before we had a newsletter. We keep saying we're going to put those together into a book or a series of books depending on their length. But we keep not getting to it, and that's a real problem.
So I thought about it. Since these stories were written for your entertainment, they shouldn’t sit on our hard drive or stay buried on our blog which has over a thousand posts making it hard to find that story from 2 years ago that you loved.
We also don't have a list of the stories that you could peruse to find them either. It doesn't help that sometimes one story bleed into another, and we didn't realize we're in a totally different story until they were like 70 parts to it. So that makes it a bit difficult to follow on our website.
We've long wanted to fix that, but there are over a thousand posts. That's a lot of content to go through. So what usually happens is that Melinda will sit down for a weekend and try her damnedest to figure out how to take all those stories and put them together so you can read them more easily.
She usually gives up though because it's such a big job. But we're coming to a point where the prequels will be done soon (that’s the goal for 2025) and all the books going forward will be on the same timeline. Won't that be awesome?
So that makes it a little bit easier to tackle this project. But it's still a big project. So I thought why don't we start with the earliest stories that took you behind the scenes and revised those and put an excerpt in the newsletter every week so we go back to having a story every week?
Then at the end, when we have gone through the whole of that particular, story we could release it as an ebook. So that's what we are planning to do. When are we staring start?
Not today unfortunately. I had to pull rank on my scribe and make her go to the nearest Urgent Care center on Saturday because she was getting sicker by the day.
Melinda wasn’t getting better because it went into a secondary infection. No amount of fluids of and rest can cure that without antibiotics. She has them now, so in theory, she should be doing better when I pop back into your inbox next week with an update.
So we are returning to our roots, and there will be a story in the newsletter every week coming soon. We’ll still have excerpts of new books, and of course, I will report on all the shenanigans that happen behind the scenes, so you won’t miss a thing.
What’s on Patreon?
Right now, you can read advanced chapters from Rogue Gift and Chasing Dragons. There’s 20 chapters posted for each book right now, and Melinda posts 4 chapters a week there. Right now her focus is on finishing Rogue Gift, book 5 of the Robin of Larkspur series, first. Then she’ll finish my story.
Advanced chapters from the story we’ll share in the newsletter will be there too as soon as Melinda is well enough for me to argue with her about which story we should choose.
I’m going to argue for the portal story. We keep teasing that story, and it would be nice if there was a book that showed you:
how we got a portal to our scribe’s world.
who built it
why did they build it?
But more on that next week after I argue with Melinda about it.
What's Next for the books?
The Rogue Gods Trilogy left a power vacuum in a certain place and a throne up for grabs. Some of the characters from the trilogy would like to see what happens with that situation, and they probably want to get involved too.
So they are requesting a sequel series. But I denied their request for now because Melinda needs to write some books for me first. So that’s not for a while yet. Melinda really wants to finish the two prequel series which includes the sequels for Relic Hunter and the Robin of Larkspur series, get our newsletter stories out there and of course, write more books Curse Breaker and His Angelic Keeper books.
Once our series are all caught up and some of the characters from the Rogue Gods Trilogy have had an opportunity to show up in my books, then maybe Guerren can have a book or two to explore that power vacuum. But he’ll have to share those books with the other characters from the Rogue Gods Trilogy.
Speaking of that trilogy, we sent all the ebooks out to the backers who brought the Rogue Gods to earth. Now we’re waiting impatiently for the next round of proofs. They printed yesterday, so now we just need to wait for them to ship to us. Cross your fingers and hope with us that they look amazing!
I’ll keep you updated on that and all the books things. Have an awesome week!
