The angel was right
Hi! It's Ran again. You know, the cute kid who's trying to become the best sidekick in the history of sidekicks.
But my hero is kind of overprotective because he's my father and that often gets in the way of my sidekick training. But every book is another opportunity to convince him to ease up a little. At least I think so. I'm not sure what Papa thinks of that and I'm afraid to ask. So we'll just wait and see.
Meanwhile, I lift you on a little bit of a cliffhanger last week but not purpose. I just didn't know where we were going then but I do now.
So last week, my scribe, Melinda, dreamed that someone, possibly her late sister or maybe one of the many angels who star in the books, requested special-ish editions of the His Angelic Keeper series. I didn't know what Melinda would do with that request since it just happened right before the newsletter went out. So I had lots of questions and no answers and Melinda was really rattled by the dream.
I saw a picture online that said if your scribe is malfunctioning that I should turn her on and off. But I couldn't find an off switch so I asked Uncle Miren for help and we put our scribe to bed.
She’s been working on edits and formatting the His Angelic Keeper illustrated omnibuses ever since then in addition to working full time, and I’m worried she’ll burn herself out. I thought she was doing okay after her father passed away in September, but now I've got some doubts. But I’ll keep an eye on her and make sure she rests.
I said in last week's newsletter that I'd help Melinda find all the art she's made for the His Angelic Keeper series since 2018 when the first book came out, and I did that. I deserve a pat on the back for that because Melinda must be the most disorganized scribe ever to write.
She had images all over the place and I even found art she licensed years ago. Thankfully she kept the license agreements with the images and the licenses say we can still use them. That's no time limit that I could find. So the angels were right. Melinda has a lot of art just sitting around.
I also found some art featuring me and Papa and since we appear a lot in the His Angelic Keeper series, we should have some art in there too.
I knew Melinda would want to add some so I went ahead and pulled art together some art featuring me and Papa too. Why wait? She can’t possibly say no especially since I just promised there would be some art of us. Am I right?
I have some preliminary art to show off for His Angelic Keeper Books 1-2. They don’t feature me, but that’s okay because Melinda didn’t get to where I show up in the His Angelic Keeper series yet. But she will and my smiling little face will be as close to that section as the formatting allows.
To get notified when the campaign launches, follow it here.
Chaos Rises is still being edited, but since it picks up where the His Angelic Keeper series leaves off and the book is completely written, Melinda will format a specialish edition for it too and add it to the campaign.
Catch the Scribe nearing completion and I think it may end this week. We shall find out in my update next Monday! It just feels like it’s coming to an end, and I’m running out of ways to prolong it—I mean get more page time! Because that’s my goal in every book.
That’s where everything stands right now. We’re waiting for the books for the Robin of Larkspur series special edition kickstarter to print and ship so they can go to their new homes and we’re looking at printers for the His Angelic Keeper series omnibuses + Chaos Rises.
And we’re hoping to find a way to print and ship a pretty book that doesn’t break the bank. More on that when we have details. The book files aren’t ready yet to upload to a printer to get quotes, but they will be soon, according to the angels.
I hope you have an awesome week. Thank you so much for being part of this wild journey. It means the world to me and my scribe.
—Ran, son of Sarn, writing for Melinda Kucsera, my scribe.
