I have to teach her a lesson
Melinda is my scribe and I tell you my brilliant plan to keep it that way.
Last week, I told you that Robin from the Robin of Larkspur series went to my scribe’s apartment to recover her books. She didn't say she also wanted some page time, but I’m on to her! I know that's what she really wants.
But Melinda is my scribe, so I have to teach Robin a lesson.
By the way, the paperbacks for the Robin of Larkspur series are all recovered now too. So both the ebooks and the paperbacks have the same covers.
I don’t know why it took a week for the printer to update the retailers and make that change, but they finally did. Maybe they sent the message by smoke signal or carrier pigeon?
In case you missed it, these are the new covers for the Robin of Larkspur series:
Speaking of pigeons and smoke signals, the Alliance of Independent Authors finally heard from their reps who attended the London Book Fair a few weeks ago. But they still have no update from Amazon on our case. So that’s a bummer.
Let’s go back to my genius plan since it led to some good news.
How can I teach Robin a lesson when she's a warrior with training and muscles and stuff I don't have?
Why aren't I a warrior too?
If you've met my dad, then you know he's a peaceful guy who doesn't want to fight anyone. But the plot keeps pushing him into situations where fighting is necessary. I think it’s doing that for your entertainment and mine, but I could be wrong.
If you haven't met my dad, the actual star of the Curse Breaker books, what are you waiting for? Get Curse Breaker Enchanted now. It's free. (This is his son, Ran, writing to you in case you were wondering.)
Where was I before I digressed? Oh yes, I was telling you how I outsmarted Robin and ensured I'll get more page time.
What did I do?
I put a brand new Kickstarter campaign for a brand spanking new trilogy for the Curse Breaker series into prelaunch! Follow it and share it. Show Robin you want more books about my magical family and friends and maybe Jerlo too.
What's this new trilogy about?
Well, it starts with a bang since the sequel to Curse Breaker Jousts will be Curse Breaker Unleashed, and we really do unleash our resident Curse Breaker. Papa turns 21 and loses all control of his magic.
When he breaks an old curse, he wakes an ancient army and unleashes them on the city under Mount Eredren. (He didn’t know that would happen, so it’s not really his fault.)
No idea what we're going to do about that, but I'm sure Jerlo will think of something. I’m putting all the pressure on him.
Yes, this is the book where the statues come to life.
Jerlo will not enjoy Curse Breaker Unleashed, but he gives my dad so much grief in other books, so that’s okay.
That's what happens in Curse Breaker Unleashed, #13 in the Curse Breaker series.
The plot for #14 & #15 is still to be determined since it depends on what happens with that army, and that’s why we don’t have covers for them yet. So stick around to find out what we’ll do in 14 & 15.
Melinda will write Curse Breaker Unleashed after she finishes the last two books in the Riders of the Apocalypse series (Chaos Reigns and Chaos in Chains).
So she’ll start writing that new trilogy probably this fall when we hope to launch Curse Breaker Jousts, Chaos Reigns, and Chaos in Chains. Follow that campaign here:
What about book 12, Curse Breaker Jousts. Is it done yet?
No, not yet. Melinda wrote and published chapters 53-56 on Substack and Patreon.
But the book is almost done! There are still a few chapters left unless we find something else we absolutely have to do before the book ends. Melinda hopes we don’t find anything else. She wants to write those final chapters (57-?) this week to box us in so we have to do the story I told you about in Curse Breaker Unleashed.
Once Curse Breaker Jousts is done, it might need a lot of editing. We were all over the place because the plot demanded we give it our all. So we did, and now, Papa is doing what I tell him to do. I have his time all planned out since he needs to rest and recover. That’s what we do between books.
Papa might be looking forward to the next book so he can get some time to himself.
So that’s where things are right now, and it’s exciting. The book changed a lot from the original draft. But it had to because the circumstances that led to it were very different. So my scribe might be reluctant to let it end. We’ll see what happens this week.
I hope you have a great week and I’ll be back next week with more.
Read some great books this week!
