Happy Birthday to Our Scribe And Some Exciting Book Updates! 🎉

Hi, today is my scribe’s birthday! 🎂 Usually, we celebrate with the release of a new book, but the one that was supposed to come out today isn’t done yet. Why?

Well… I may have run off with the plot again.

This is Ran, Sarn’s son from the Curse Breaker series, and before you blame me, let me explain.

I didn’t get enough page time last year, and that’s a tragedy! So this year, I’ve convinced Melinda to give me more plot twists, more banter, and (my favorite) more magic.

But that means the book is going to take a little longer to finish. We don’t really do “short stories” in my world—there’s simply too much mayhem to contain!

So what does that mean?

It just means the next book is coming soon, just not today. And I know you're wondering: How soon is “soon”?

That’s a question I’ll answer next Monday! Why the wait? Because I gave Melinda the best birthday gift I could think of: some time off work to write. Let’s see what she does with it!

Upcoming Books: What’s Coming Next?

We have two books nearing completion:

1. Catch the Scribe

This story reshapes two of our earliest newsletter adventures (back when Melinda didn’t know they’d grow into books) into one cohesive story. It's the first step in revisiting and completing these early adventures, many of which laid the groundwork for Dragon Spells and its sequel. These stories were written as fun scenes that didn’t quite connect.

But we’ve made a plan! First, we’re organizing those pre-Dragon Spells adventures into proper stories (Catch the Scribe is the beginning of that). Once Melinda tackles those, we’ll return to the post-Dragon Spells stories. I know you’re waiting for them.

Don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten them! It's just hard to move forward until we've gone back to find the missing puzzle pieces from the earlier stories.

But I promise we’ll get there.

2. Chaos Rises

This story picks up where His Angelic Keeper: Tempted left off. (Yes, the whole stalled-apocalypse thing will finally get resolved!) Expect high-stakes battles, lots of surprises, and—you guessed it!—plenty of chaos.

Coming Soon: Curse Breaker Jousts!

I’m still convincing Melinda it should be the penultimate book in this ongoing arc, and I think she’ll agree eventually. 🤞 After all, we’ll probably need Papa to face down the Riders of the Apocalypse, and you don’t want to miss that!

An Update on the Special Editions

If you’ve been following our Kickstarters, you know we’ve offered some amazing special editions. Lately, though, we’ve faced some challenges with their production:

• Complicated printing processes (like colored edges) have led to frustrating delays and sometimes printing errors. Melinda has spent months raising support tickets and waiting on reprints.

• Higher printing costs have driven up prices, making it harder to keep these editions affordable for everyone.

So, for now, we’re putting special editions on hold.

This doesn’t mean we’ll never do them again. There are new printing options on the horizon, and we’re excited to revisit them when technology catches up. In the meantime, we’ll still include special features like illustrations in our books, but we’re focusing on writing for the near future.

Are Kickstarters still Happening?

We’re still 100% committed to using Kickstarter as a way to bring you new books, especially for those avoiding Amazon. Kickstarters also let us offer fun extras you can’t get anywhere else, like secret rewards. (Seriously, how cool does that sound?)

Secret rewards are still in beta, but hopefully a future campaign will have them!

Our books will still publish on Amazon, but Kickstarter gives us freedom to connect directly with you and for me to exist outside my books!
