Fantasy, Lore, & More: Modern Day Muses

Hi, I'm indie fantasy author, Melinda Kucsera, and in this episode, L. L. Nelson is joining me to talk about her book, Modern Day Muses.

What's it about?

  • Alex and Titus survived Mount Vesuvius, but can they survive an immortal hellbent on revenge?

  • After their escape from ancient Herculaneum, Alex and Titus are safe in modern day America. Alex is home, yet everything has changed. She has plenty on her mind now—her desire for Titus, the realization that she's a time traveler, and keeping her museum job. When Titus finds comfort in the familiarity of military life, Alex is torn between her pacifist background and her desires for a future with him.

  • If that wasn't enough, their old enemy, the immortal Fortuna Atrox, soon becomes her new boss. When she hires Alex's old flame to work with her, it threatens to drive a deeper wedge between Alex and Titus.

  • Caught between a comfortable past and strange new future, Alex faces an enormous decision: embrace her newfound life with Titus and the Muses, or submit to the manipulative hand of Fate.

  • Can Alex and Titus defy Fortuna's ruthless schemes, or will they—and their bond—succumb to the unrelenting force of ancient vengeance?

  • If you love time travel romances (like Outlander), immortals involving themselves in mortal affairs (like Doctor Who), and fresh twists on mythology (like Percy Jackson), then you will love Modern Day Muses and the Tempus Viatores series.

  • Modern Day Muses is a character-driven time travel romance with fresh mythology.

  • Set in the Tempus Viatores series created by L. L. Nelson, Modern Day Muses blends contemporary and historical fantasy.

What's in this episode:

  • L. L. Nelson will take us into a world spanning ancient Herculaneum and modern America with an excerpt from Modern Day Muses, and we'll explore aspects like the immortal vengeful Fortuna, the time travel element, and mythology twists.

  • We'll find out what to expect from the Tempus Viatores series and maybe get some spoiler-free highlights of what's to come.

  • We'll discuss Alex's journey caught between her past and future with Titus amidst Fortuna's schemes, and discover worldbuilding details about the muses, time travel mechanics, and more.

  • Join us in a place where ancient immortals meddle in modern lives, where mythology gets fresh spins, and where time is but a river to cross.

I am Melinda Kucsera, an indie fantasy author and I narrate chapters from my adventure books, talk about other fantasy books and shows and try my best not to get derailed by the shenanigans of characters who are supposed to be fictional, but they don't stay within the pages of my books. I tell all their secrets and what trouble they get into in between books.
