Danger: Fire Breathing Columns Ahead
Hey!
Guess where we went this weekend.
Before I reveal where we went, our Scribe (and us too because we go everywhere with her) were guests at this event. And this is not the thing I might be in trouble for.
This is Ran, Sarn’s son from the Curse Breaker series, as usual because I camped out in front of the pc last night so no one could get to it first. Don’t worry! I had a blanket and every pillow I could find, so I was nice and comfy on the floor.
Okay, back to my story.
Where did we go on Saturday? To a wedding!
Melinda’s cousin got married, and it was a lovely event with lots of flowers, music, candles, food, dancing, and hanging out with family. That’s what she did.
What did we, characters, do?
Well, there were lots of candles and you know how light attracts us…
There was even a decorative pillar near the fountain that shot fire out of it! So us, characters, may have circled it and stared at the flames. We could hear the music and the band playing it from out there, and it was a nice night. Plus, there was a buffet just inside the doors, so we had a nice night hanging around the fire while stuffing ourselves on all the goodies.
Melinda didn’t even know we were there. We were that good because Papa might have dropped a shield around the flame-shooting column to keep curious characters from touching it.
I might have been one of those characters…
Since Uncle Miren isn’t here right now to confirm or deny that, you’ll never know if I’m the reason for the shield. That’s why I camped out in front of the pc. I can’t let him tell you all my secrets.
Unfortunately, Melinda’s dad was hospitalized this past week too, so her parents couldn’t attend the wedding. Her dad was discharged from the hospital, so he’s home now and doing better. So it’s been a wild week.
Because of all that, we only have one podcast episode this week, but it was a lot of fun:
Fantasy, Lore, & More: Summoning and Sacrifice
Later this week, we’ll have more episodes coming at you.
And I’m not trying to string you along. You can ask for permission, then do something. Or you can do the thing, then ask for forgiveness.
Guess which one I chose. If you guessed, do it then ask for forgiveness, you’re correct!
There’s just a few things I need to straighten out before I can finally reveal it. I’m sorry it’s taking so long. The thing involves other characters, so some parts are out of my control, and I just have to wait until they are ready. But I don’t have to be patient about it.
I shouldn’t have let those other characters control the thing. But they had some fun ideas, and they didn’t need me to do anything except show up for those fun things. So I might have told them to go for it, and they might have ran off with the plot.
I might have run off with them. After all, my nickname is Ran, so I kind of have to do that. It’s in my name.
Yes, I am talking about a book. What other thing would I be in trouble for?
I’m a good fictional character. Really I am. I prove it in every Curse Breaker book. That’s all I can say right now, but this book is a wild ride. It’s wilder than Melinda would have liked, and we might not do some things we promised. So that’s why I might be in trouble.
But there’s still 30% of the book to go, so I might convince the other characters to do what we’re supposed to do. Or I might not. It really depends on them. If they have an idea that’s more fun than the thing we promised, then I have to do that for you.
After all, everything we do is for you!
So there’s a chance I might not be in trouble after all. It really depends! And that is why I’ve been so cagey. I don’t liking not telling you things, so this was really hard, but it’s almost done, and my fate will be sealed soon.
That sounds really ominous. Let’s move onto a happier topic.
I hope you enjoyed learning more about the origin of the Curse Breaker series last week. It's been quite a journey, and we wouldn't be here without your support.
We have an ambitious goal to give away 3650 copies of Curse Breaker Enchanted by February 22, 2024, which marks 10 years since our first fan and Melinda's sister passed away. She asked Melinda to publish her stories, and without that promise, this newsletter probably wouldn’t exist.
Thank you to everyone who helped us inch closer to our goal. This week, 92 people downloaded copies of Curse Breaker Enchanted! And we found one new review.
Thank you so much! We’re 2.5% of the way to our goal. Will you help us achieve that goal?
Every download gets us closer. If you've already read Curse Breaker Enchanted, please consider telling other people about it on social media and leaving a short review on any retailer.
You can just say things like:
Ran is right, adults are weird. (Okay maybe not this one, but I am right about the adults in my life. Papa makes some questionable decisions, but I know he’s doing his best. And as the series goes on, his decisions are less questionable. At least I think they are, but I might be biased because I influence some of those decisions. So they are kind of my ideas too…)
I liked/loved it because there was so much magic in the book and the characters were fun. Or any other reason why you liked it.
Reviews help readers who are looking for a book choose ours. They don’t need to be long. Short reviews are great too!
If you find a typo, please don’t mention it in the review because reviews are for readers. Please hit reply to any email of ours or use the contact us feature on our website to tell us about the typo.
We try to catch all the typos, but they’re like Pokemons. It’s hard to catch them all.
Just make sure to include what book you caught the typo in, the sentence that contains the typo, so we can search for it, and what it should be.
I’m often the one answering emails and searching for the typos, so this fictional character out and give me enough info to find it. I really appreciate that.
Thank you again for being part of our story. I'll be back next week with more. Let's make 2024 an epic year!
