Big Book News! Let's get you off that cliff
The official 2026 writing queue! Find out what books will be coming your way next year.
Hey! Last week, I left you on a little cliffhanger. I promised this week to fix that, so let’s go!
But first, this is Ran, Sarn’s chatty son from the Curse Breaker Series.
What news did I make you wait to hear?
Well, it’s not that Storm Spells is done because it’s not done yet. I know. I wish it were too because then we’d be one step closer to getting into your hands.
But we can’t rush these things. Some books take more time to write because I need lots of action and adventure, and also a lot of magic and mayhem to stop Dysteria.
After all, we did have to find our missing scribe and then save her before she could write the book. So that added some extra time to the schedule. It makes the book extra epic though.
So what’s my big news if it’s not that?
Do you know what Melinda will write after Storm Spells?
Previously, I told you it would be Chaos Reigns, the sequel to Chaos Rises. BUT I convinced Melinda to write Curse Breaker Jousts next!
Did you expect that?
If you did, then you know me too well. I’m happy I lived up to your expectations. :)
That’s right. If you’re a patron on Patreon or a paid subscriber on Substack, you’ll get to read Curse Breaker Jousts next as Melinda writes it. So you’ll essentially be experiencing the book in real-time as I live it, and that makes me so happy.
But wait there’s more! I’m not done with the news yet or the surprises.
After my scribe writes Curse Breaker Jousts, she will write Chaos Reigns and Chaos in Chains, the two sequels to Chaos Rises.
We might release all 3 books together or we may release Curse Breaker Jousts separately. I’ll probably put a poll in an upcoming newsletter so you can vote on this because the cast is divided.
And then do you know what Melinda will write after that? Can you guess?
A brand new trilogy for the Curse Breaker Series is coming in 2026!
We’re breaking curses, fighting evil mages, taking on a whole new set of enemies, and hopefully, making some new allies too. The stakes are rising but so is our resident curse breaker. (Papa could not be reached for comment on that, and that’s probably a good thing.)
There will be dragon playdates (I hope!), new dangers, and new powers for your favorite characters. Plus, we’ll add as much magic as we can shove into the books because we put the epic in epic fantasy!
Leave space in your 2026 TBR because I am claiming some spots!
So to sum up, this is the official 2026 lineup:
Curse Breaker Jousts (Curse Breaker #12) ← next on the writing queue!!!
Chaos Rises (Riders of the Apocalypse #2)
Chaos in Chains (Riders of the Apocalypse #3)
Curse Breaker #13
Curse Breaker #14
Curse Breaker #15
That’s all great but when can you get your hands on them?
Well, the plan might change if I need more page time, but for now this my best guess:
Curse Breaker Jousts, Chaos Rises, Chaos in Chains to release in or as close to March 2026 as we can manage unless we release Curse Breaker Jousts separately. We’ll do a poll so you can help us decide.
Curse Breaker #13-15 will release hopefully around the end of 2026 and we’re doing as many of the things that we’ve hinted at as we can get Papa to do in each book. Melinda has a checklist, and I might have one too.
But that schedule depends on how much page time we need to defeat the baddies and save our queen, our home, and our friends.
I know what you’re thinking. How did I convince Melinda to switch up her writing queue?
It was actually really easy. I sent her to the NY Renaissance fair, and she came home and started drafting a new first chapter for Curse Breaker Jousts.
Why did she do that? Because we might have used the previous opening chapters as the end of Chasing Dragons.
I don’t regret that even though I’m not in chapter one yet. I’ll get in there. Give me time to work my magic.
I would love to say that’s why Storm Spells isn’t done. But I’d be lying because Melinda consistently writes 4 chapters per week for Storm Spells and releases them Thursday to Sunday on Patreon and our paid tier on Substack. Some weeks she can write more than 4 chapters because the story is really flowing and we characters take direction well.
But sometimes, we go off script and pull the story into new and unexpected directions! We do that a lot in the books based on our newsletters actually.
Why do we do that?
Why wouldn’t we? We’re often in your world where there are so many more ways we can get into trouble. So we must explore that in depth!
When we fell into plot holes or ran into situations our scribe didn’t know how to solve in Storm Spells, she might have closed the draft and opened the file for Curse Breaker Jousts.
I have no complaints since I am in both books. I just not the main character in both. I am the main character in Storm Spells, but Papa is the main character in Curse Breaker Jousts.
So most of the time you’re adventuring with him, and that’s okay. I can read his books and find out what was going through his head and why he did the things he did because he doesn’t explain much. I don’t know if you noticed that. He tends to magic first and answer questions later if he’s feeling talkative.
Now you know what’s going on behind the scenes.
Why did I wait to tell you?
I needed Melinda to confirm that Curse Breaker Jousts will be next up in the writing queue. And she did!
I also wanted her to get so deep into the draft that she couldn’t possibly change her mind, so I could announce the change with confidence. We’ll just ignore my previous announcement since this is final, and Papa won’t let Melinda deviate from it. He’s already wandering around and getting into trouble as usual.
Are you excited?
I am but I am always excited for new books!

In the coming weeks, I’ll have questions about what you want since Sept 26, 2026 is the 10 year anniversary of the publication of Curse Breaker Enchanted, the original version, not to be confused with the more epic version that released in 2017.
So we’d like to do something special to celebrate that and what’s better than releasing new books?
I can’t think of anything, but if you think of something you’d like to see for the 10-year anniversary, hit reply and tell us! Or leave a comment. Thank you for being part of this wild journey! See you next week.
