Are we going rogue?!
More sprayed edges designs inside plus book updates.
Hey! Last week, we showed you the edges for A Curse Breaker in NY Books 1-3.
That trilogy includes the following brand new books that will be released either at the end of January or early in February:
Catch the Scribe
Book Battles
Rogue Characters
The timing depends on when we can get the final proof copies and if we have to make any changes.
Since Melinda actually did the layout for the edge design for TJ Muir’s Winter Mage special edition which released a few months ago, we don’t think there will be any issues with the edge design. But that design repeated across all sides of the book and ours are NOT doing that because we love drama (and pretty pictures).
Well, I love it. My scribe doesn’t like it so much. But I digress.
If you missed that announcement and the mockups of the edge designs for A Curse Breaker in NY Books 1-3 in our forthcoming Kickstarter, take a look at them here:
This week, I get to show you the edges for Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 1-2. This book includes the following books:
Dragon Spells
Rogue Spells
So without further ado, let’s go!
Here’s the sprayed edge design for the top of the book, Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 1-2:
Do you recognize that handsome child?
That’s right. It’s me!
(This is Ran, Sarn’s son from the Curse Breaker series. I’ll be your host this week as I am every week.)
Since I am the main character in these two books, I grabbed the top slot because that’s only fair, right?
I knew you’d agree! Melinda made this image of me back in 2018 or 2019 and it was intended for a card back when we thought we could do a card game based on the books.
I still think we could do a game, but there’s a lot more involved in that than we realized. Also, card games have rules, and rules aren’t my thing. Even my papa has trouble following rules. So that’s our current stumbling block.
One day we’ll figure out some rules everyone can follow. But that day is not today.
Here’s the sprayed edge design for the side of the book, Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 1-2:
Do you recognize that handsome duo?
That’s right! It’s me and Papa, and he’s doing magical stuff. I’m trying to copy him. The dragon didn’t fit on the cover, but that’s who we’re hitting with magic. This is another image that we considered for a card.
Here’s the sprayed edge design for the bottom of the book, Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 1-2:
Do you recognize her?
If you said she’s, Robin of Larkspur, then you’re corect! That’s who this warrior lady is and she returns in this book to help us because we need a lot of help. We have rogue books, rogue dragons, and rogue scribes!
That’s a lot of rogues. Since she’s an expert at dealing with rogues, she dropped by to help.
What character art will grace the sprayed edges of Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 3-4?
We don’t know yet. The characters are still arguing about that. We have 3 slots to fill, and many characters left.
So come back next week. We might know the answer since Melinda wants to finish book 4, Void Spells, this week. Maybe we’ll have the final cover design too. The current one is still tentative.
Our scribe headed to a local Christmas Market to hunt for presents, so we’ll see if she can squeeze in a lot of writing plus holiday shopping. I’ll let you know how that went.
Other News
In other book news, Melinda still has no access to our books on Amazon. So there’s nothing to report there. Her account is all messed up still. She misses buying audiobooks, but she won’t give that store a cent until they fix her account.
Shopping local has become a fun holiday adventure. Last week, she and a friend went to White Oak Farm and bought some yummy local honey and maple syrup! They even had something called cooking syrup which is made from the last sap of the season. The friendly fellow who made the cooking syrup said it’s actually bitter and best for cooks who know how to use it.
Obviously that’s not our scribe. She has trouble following basic cooking directions. So she passed on the maple cooking syrup and just bought the regular maple syrup and raw, unfiltered honey. Hopefully, that honey will help fend off seasonal allergies since it contains local pollen.
I’ve got my fingers crossed that it helps. I don’t want my scribe to have so many sinus infections next summer.

That’s all I have for you this week. I must get back to my scribe and help her end the book so I get as much page time as I can!
See you next week!
