All or Nothing
I’m just dropping by to entertain you and give you a quick update about our Kickstarter and of course, I’m in trouble again.
This is becoming a recurring section in our newsletter, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. But let’s dive into what I did wrong this time.
Melinda noticed I got the hardcover prices wrong.
This is Ran, Sarn’s son and sidekick from the Curse Breaker series, and I just want to point out that math is hard for fictional characters.
Since the printer is in the UK, we have to convert everything from pounds to dollars, and that’s where the error creeped in. Not to worry, Melinda corrected them.
Each hardcover omnibus is supposed to be $50 each—only a couple dollars more than the oversized paperback versions we had for a little while. Thankfully no one backed those tiers before we corrected the error yesterday.
I had some good news because our project funded, but then someone withdrew their pledge, and we dropped back below the goal. So our project is not funded yet. And we’re all sad about that, but we understand. That person’s financial situation may have changed.
Kickstarter campaigns are all or nothing, so it’s nerve wracking watching the funding level go up to funded then drop back to 41% of goal. Hopefully, we’ll hit that all-important funding goal.
If we don’t hit it, then I don’t know what we’ll do. Melinda sank a year of her life into this project, and she may have a hard time bouncing back from that. But we’re going to think positively!
This project will find its fans. It will fund!
Melinda even had a dream that her deceased sister swung by for a visit and “borrowed” our proof copies! I’m taking that as a sign this project will fund.
You can help by sharing our project with your friends. All they need is a free Kickstarter account to pledge and help us reach our goal.
Once we reach that goal, we have stories and goodies to addon to every reward tier as we hit various stretch goals. But more on that after we fund.
Melinda also recorded a special video and podcast episode about the kickstarter and she shared some fun stories about some of the drama that went on behind the scenes when she was writing Curse Breaker Falls, Curse Breaker Sundered, and Curse Breaker Hidden. It’s not a long episode, but I thought you might enjoy it.
I’ll see you on Monday as usual. Due to our podcast recording schedule, I won’t have a chance to email again before then even if something happens with our campaign. So this is the last update for this week.
